Civil Emergency/COVID-19 Measures
Executive Order of the Mayor, No: 2020-01
ORDERED by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen of Senatobia, Mississippi:
WHEREAS, the City of Senatobia has issued a Proclamation of Local Emergency on March 17, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and in cases of pandemic, leaders must make strategic and operational decisions.
WHEREAS, the City of Senatobia has conferred with other local leaders and has received further guidance from the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Greg Graves, Mayor of the City of Senatobia, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the State of Mississippi pursuant to Code Section 33-15-17(c)(7) and in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to make common sense policy and operational decisions to that end, hereby issue the following:
The following shall become effective at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020 and shall remain in effect until further notice. Businesses allowed to remain open with restrictions:
(1) Restaurants – NO inside dining and NO outside dining shall be allowed. Pick-up, drive-thru and delivery only shall be allowed.
(2) Churches, other assemblies and gatherings – shall only be permitted with ten (10) or fewer people in attendance.
(3) All businesses that can continue to operate with ten (10) or fewer persons inside the location at one time, including patrons and employees, shall be allowed to remain open at this time following CDC guidelines.
(4) Essential Service Businesses: These shall include nursing homes, health clinics, drug stores, pharmacies, banks, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, military installations, security and emergency response operations. These too must follow CDC and Mississippi Department of Health guidelines and implement safeguards to prevent spread of the COVID-19 virus to the greatest extent possible. These businesses shall be allowed to have ten (10) or more persons inside the business as part of normal business operations.
(5) Funerals shall be limited to ten (10) or fewer people. Indoor services and viewings are allowed as long as ten (10) or fewer people are inside at one time. Graveside services are encouraged.
Businesses that shall close: Movie theaters, gyms, indoor recreation centers, and fitness centers are to close.
Mississippi Department of Health has not mandated childcare facilities to close at this time. They are being updated daily by Mississippi Department of Health and encouraged to follow all CDC and MSDH guidelines.
The Office of the Mayor of Senatobia reserves the right to issue further Executive Orders as the need arises, including penalties for violations of Executive Order No: 2020-01. Exemptions may be provided for any business that can comply with CDC and MSDH guidelines.
This policy shall be reviewed at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Aldermen on April 7, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
